2008 Summer Jazz Party

The “Summer Jazz Party” series at the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center has been held annually during the summer for six continuous years. It is one of the most popular series of the National C.K.S. Cultural Center.

This year, the virtuosi from abroad in the National Concert Hall include the return of the saxophonist, Kenny Garrett and the Quartet on 23 Aug; the highly acclaimed Japanese jazz pianist, Hiromi Uehara and the Quartet on 28 Aug; the American “Jazz Master”, McCoy Tyner and the Trio on 5 Sep; and the Grammy awarded jazz vocalist, Dianne Reeves on 15 Sep.

There will be also two Taiwanese jazz bands joining in the series at the Experiment Theatre: the Delta on the Street Jazz Band (DOMS) on 29 Aug and Sizhukong Jazz Band on 30 Aug.

The DOMS will present the modern rhythms and melodies in a night of Fusion Jazz－a mixture of Funk, Standard Jazz, Latin Jazz, R&B, and Crossover Jazz. Sizhukong Jazz Band is a unique ensemble gathering experimental musicians from different music scenes. Combining traditional Chinese instrumentation and modern jazz instrumentation, bringing new styles to old songs.
